Goin Native in SJC Parks
Saturday, April 23, 2016 - Sunday, April 24, 2016

UCCE Master Gardeners have partnered with Goin Native, a non- profit gardening group based in San Juan Capistrano, to bring a gardening lecture series to the community. Master Gardeners help to identify many of the California native plants at Reata Park and provide support for public tours of the grounds. Working with the city, Goin Native has been the steward of the garden at historic Los Rios Park located in downtown San Juan since it opened in 2009 and the more newly established Reata Park & Event Center. Reata is located on 12.5 acres along the Ortega Highway and planted with over 250 species of California Native plants.
On April 23 & 24, Goin Native will host the two-day Eco Garden Expo at Los Rios Park, San Juan Capistrano. The Expo features a speaker series, exhibitors and demonstrations. Master Gardeners will be there in full force, participating in the speaker series, conducting children’s activities, and hosting a staffed booth with lots of good gardening information.
Goin Native will be giving a 30 minute free, interpretive California native plant walk with a handout following each Reata Park class.
This summer, Master Gardeners have planned the following public lectures for Reata Park:
All lectures are held at Reata Park and begin at 9:30 AM. Goin Native gives a 30-minute free, interpretive, California native plant-walk with a handout following each class. Learn more at: www.goinnative.net Master Gardeners are presenting a lecture series called Smart Gardening 101.
